Reign of Terror


Reign of Terror is an obstacle course race set in medieval Kells, Co. Kilkenny and takes place on Saturday 21st October 2017. The terrain in Kells is tough; muddy, hilly and marshy with numerous natural obstacles and river crossings that makes the event very challenging, yet ideal for team bonding and group entries. 


A modern day Medieval battle is set to take place in the historic Kilkenny village of Kells on Saturday, October 21st.

Taking place in the medieval village of Kells, Country Kilkenny on Saturday, October 21st numbers of those participating this year are expected to more than double.


An ideal day out for visitors and spectators, there will be something for everyone with Viking and Medieval Battle Displays from Déíse Medieval, historical tours of Kells Priory, BBQ’s and lots more at Ireland’s only endurance obstacle race ‘Reign of Terror’.

Set on an ancient battlefield, the medieval Priory Castle, Kells Cross and Kings River are just some of the historic backdrops that competitors and spectators alike will enjoy. Suitable for people of all fitness levels, the course which is adaptable for everyone from 13 to 70 years of age and will take in both a 5 km and 10km route.

This year, event organisers have introduced the endurance element which will offer participants a different experience to the traditional obstacle course races taking place in Ireland. A host of high profile Irish sporting stars are lined up to participate for 2017.

There are over 60 obstacles such as ‘Strongbow's Summit’, ‘Motte and Bales’, ‘Seven Castles Squeeze’, ‘Warrior Weir’, ‘Victory Hill’ and ‘Kyteler's Crossing’ that participants can choose to tackle. Reign of Terror is the perfect gateway to endurance events for anybody wishing to test the waters

Part of a growing trend, the popularity of Obstacle Course Runs has overtaken that of marathons across the EU and the UK, and this October, the craze is set to hit the South East for what is Ireland’s first ever Endurance Obstacle Course Event.

Special corporate package offers are available along with early bird rates for those who sign up in advance. Happening, October 21st, the first wave starts at 9 AM with waves every 10 minutes until 1.30PM
