  • Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny - access from Parliment Street - 10am to 6pm daily, €12/9.50/7 - This multi-sensory and interactive experience will take visitors on a journey through the medieval origins of brewing on the site of the St. Francis Abbey Brewery to the arrival of John Smithwick in the 1700’s, and right up to the present day.  The tour includes a life-size holographic monk and living portraits of the Smithwick’s family members.  During the tour, the Smithwick’s brewing process will be brought to life with visitors having the opportunity to experience the smells, tastes and textures of the raw materials involved in creating the perfect pint of ale. French, German, Spanish and Italian speaking visitors will be offered an audio guide to take them through the tour, which lasts approximately 70 minutes

  • Concert: Hudson Taylor - Friday 27th February - Set Theatre, John Street - 8.30pm, €14 - Harry & Alfie Hudson-Taylor are brothers from the outskirts of Dublin who write captivating folk-pop songs. The brothers gained recognition in 2012 before getting signed, with their debut EP Battles reaching no. 1 on iTunes Ireland, and no. 14 on iTunes UK. The band have toured extensively playing the festival circuit, headline shows and have supported the likes of Jake Bugg and Kodaline. Their debut album "Singing For Strangers" was released last month, set.ie
  • Country Music Weekend - Friday 27th February to Sunday 1st March - Springhill Court Hotel, Waterford Road - Over 3 nights, country music artists will be playing at the Springhill Court Hotel. Gerry Guthrie plays all 3 nights. Michael English preforms on Friday, Mick Flavin on Saturday and Sandy Kelly on Sunday, springhillcourt.com

Kilkenny Castle Events

  • The 'Decius Mus' Tapestries have returned to the Castle. The Tapestries are among the great glories of the wonderful historic Ormonde Collection at Kilkenny Castle. The 'Decius' suite had been in the ownership of the Ormonde family for over 300 years and was displayed in several of their residences before being acquired by OPW for display in Kilkenny Castle. It forms a highlight of the Ormonde Collection in the Tapestry Room and fabulous Picture Gallery - one of the finest historic and architectural spaces in Ireland, kilkennycastle.ie
  • Orienteering Course - Following the December launch of the new permanent Orienteering Course at Kilkenny Castle Park, OPW is delighted to announce that three maps, Short (1.8km), Medium (2.4km) and Long (3.5km) distances, are now available to download for free on the Kilkenny Castle Website. The orienteering course is open to all, families, individuals, clubs, schools and what an amazing way to explore the flora and fauna of Kilkenny Castle Park whilst enjoying the exercise in beautiful surroundings.  There is also a small area of the Canal Walk involved in the courses, kilkennycastle.ie
  • ISL Interpreted Tour of Kilkenny Castle - Saturday 28th February - 3.30pm - Kilkenny Castle & Office of Public Works, in collaboration with the Centre for Deaf Studies, Trinity College Dublin are delighted to announce a free signed tour of the Castle available to members of the deaf and hard of hearing community. As tickets are limited, please register soon, kilkennycastle.ie
  • VGraph Duathlon (5km Run / 20km Cycle / 3km Run) - Sunday 1st March - 11am - Kilkenny Triathlon Club will hold a Duathlon at Kilkenny Castle Park. Race starts at 11am at The Castle Park with a 5k Run / 20k Cycle / 3k Run. It will be super event for spectators also so do come and support all, kclr96fm.com/events

Michael and his guests share deeply insightful reflections on love and sex, friendship and family, as he makes the cancer journey with two inspiring women survivors in Spain.   • Theatre: Bigger Picture Projects presents "Run/Don't Run" (Saturday 7th March)
  • Set in New York City, 1999 - A young man fleeing Dublin crash lands on the couch of his Irish-American cousin, just as this older cousin’s relationship with his girlfriend is imploding. Over the summer, the three cling to the last vestigages of the dying club scene and flirt with small-time criminality as storm clouds gather. Part love triangle, crime thriller and immigrant story. Music In Kilkenny 2014/2015

  • Events taking place at Castalia Hall, Ballytobin, Callan, Co. Kilkenny. Music in Kilkenny organises a series of concerts every year. Music in Kilkenny is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, Kilkenny County Council & the Camphill Community of Ballytobin. €15 admission for each concert or go to 10 concerts for €100.
  • Saturday 7th March - Irish Baroque Orchestra - 8pm, €15 - The Irish Baroque Orchestra is like no other group performing in Ireland today. Driven by the belief that the best things in life stand the test of time, the orchestra allows Irish audiences to experience the beauty of baroque music as it was intended to be heard. The result is as vivid as a freshly restored oil painting: the colour, simmering tension, and highly charged emotion of this incredible music bursts to the surface, carrying the listener back 300 years to the sights and sounds of 18th Century Europe.
